Artist's Description

Despite it being something of a big tourist stop in Edinburgh, I never made it inside the World's End pub on the corner of St. Mary's Street and the Royal Mile, but I was intrigued by the name when I saw it.

Having since read up on the history, the Pub takes its name from Edinburgh's past, when the locals built the Flodden Wall in the 16th century to protect the city. In isolation, they considered that the world beyond Edinburgh ended at the city gates that once stood here. A colorful bit of history for a city that has it in abundance!

On my trips to Edinburgh, I've walked up and down the Royal Mile plenty, but for me, it came alive at night. There was just something about the city lights on all that old architecture of Old Town. And not just the city lights but the near constant motion in the old tightly packed streets of the city.
