Artist's Description

The last of the ancient ruins I visited on my trip to Egypt happened to be the Temple of Karnak near Luxor. It was a high-note on which to close that chapter. The ruins at Karnak have been featured in films like Indiana Jones. Not hard to see why is it?

We arrived early in the morning as we had a long drive ahead that day, but for a photographer this was perfect timing, the warm morning light was in full effect much of the time we were there. I love the golden colors and the shadows that resulted.

But what this most reminded me of while standing near this massive column in the Great Hypostyle Hall at Karnak was standing beneath the massive redwoods in California years before. There was that same feeling of being so small in such a massive setting. The wooden roof is long gone, and now these ancient pillars feel as if they hold up the very sky above.

About Mark Tisdale

Mark Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
