Artist's Description
The Alabama Theatre has been on the streets of downtown Birmingham since the 1920's. At one time, the streets near it were apparently packed with other theatres and movie palaces, but as across much of America, few survived. In Birmingham, the Alabama Theatre was the only one of its contemporaries still there, in no small part due to concerned citizens banding together to preserve a piece of their heritage.
The vintage marquees on these old Movie Palaces were truly something special. The designs of them are always eye-catching and ornate! This artwork is based upon detailed drawings done for the US Government in the 1990s as part of the Historic American Building Survey.

Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
